Fooling Around

A wildly outrageous, raucous, bawdy, extreme adult comedy featuring eight people behaving rather badly once the opportunity of sex rears its mischievous self in their direction.

Deeply entwined in all of the sexual shenanigans are a young man, a young woman, a prostitute, a social worker, a security manager, a talent agent, a TV producer and a burlesque dancer. Eight characters whose seductive escapades are told through eight interlinked stories and where, at least, one character from a story continues their sexual high jinks with another character in the next story that immediately follows.

Eight sexploits then of eight desperate souls, all – ultimately – just looking to be loved, but all – unfortunately – just going the amazingly wrong way about it.

Odd

Mr. Fartar, a good honest everyday kind of guy, is feeling a bit down and so he goes to a psychiatrist in the hope that this will help lift his morale. What he gets though is a counsellor who is in need of some very seriously strong counselling himself and this results in Mr. Fartar leaving the psychiatrist’s office in a far worse state than when he went in.

From there, Mr. Fartar then pops into a small store to get a few quick things; but instead what he does get is an obsessively finicky shopkeeper who persists in needling away at him and, as a consequence, Mr. Fartar eventually completely loses it.

This then results in him having to appear before a judge and, unfortunately, yet again, there is no respite for Mr. Fartar here either. The prosecutor will say and do anything in order to get him convicted and the judge is just as loopy and lopsided as all the others that Mr. Fartar has had to deal with during the course of his one real bad day out.

Rambunctious Righting

A Prosical Potpourri

A collection of twelve stories written for various genres:

In “Diane’s Dilemma” a woman’s marriage has lost its sparkle and so she now contemplates where to go from there. In “Extremely & Utterly” a jaded shopkeeper has nothing better to do than to muck a customer about. In “Daniel’s Diary” a man records his thoughts and life after a crippling accident. In “Hit & Miss” an international assassin of the highest order meets his match in two simple-living country folk.

In “Finis” a couple battle for dominance over the other as their relationship disintegrates round them in the process. In “Bit Of A Wander” a man ponders the meaning of his life (and life in general) during the course of a day out with his partner. In “Flourish” we see how a fleeting relationship can still be a full one. In “Touchy Subject” a mother’s and daughter’s past issues come to a head in a late night showdown.

In “The Talent Agent and The Burlesque Dancer” an agent soon finds out there are ways to – and ways not to – partake in a bit of office tomfoolery. In “Solar Sports” we are taken to a studio covering sports events held between humans and aliens. In “Senseless” a woman finds out what it is like when you are not careful for what you wish for. And in “The Need For Seed” a man is taken aback when he reports to a sperm bank and he finds out just how exactly they intend to collect his sample from him.

And, just for the heck of it, at the end of each narrative, I tell the history behind the story and how it is linked to what was happening in my life round the time of writing it.

The Exceedingly Remarkable, Mr. Sherlock Holmes

Three cases in which the masterful detective Sherlock Holmes and his invaluable friend Dr. Watson investigate a brutal murder, a high profile robbery and a wily blackmailer who is one of the most despicable and corrupt criminals that they both have ever come up against.

In the first case, “The Garrotted Governess,” two people have been viciously attacked. One of the victims is dead and the other just about. The police proclaim the whole thing to be a routine burglary gone tragically wrong, but Sherlock Holmes suspects something more sinister has occurred. And so, after being excused from the case by Inspector Lestrade, a determined Sherlock Holmes – ably assisted by the ever dependable Dr. Watson – proceeds to diligently dig deeper into the undisclosed affairs of the household and the murderous attack upon its tyrant owner and congenial governess.

In the second case, “The Jittery Jewelmaker,” one of the Crown Jewels of England has been stolen. Inspector Lestrade, of Scotland Yard, has in his custody the accused culprit, but he is unable to get his suspect to divulge the whereabouts of the pilfered priceless coronet.

To add to the tension, in a few days’ time, one of Queen Victoria’s sons is due to wear that very same stolen crown at an official public engagement. The three men then promptly set about to race against the clock to recover the missing national treasure before the impending grand ceremony and thus prevent any public scandal and disgrace befalling, and being thrust upon, the British royal family.

In the third and final case, “The Bilious Blackmailer,” it appears that Sherlock Holmes has seemingly met his match in the form of the blackmailing bully Charles Augustus Milverton, one of the vilest of villains – right up there comfortably alongside Professor Moriarty – ever to duel it out with the super detective.

This story is very unique amongst all the Sherlock Holmes adventures in that it’s not your usual whodunnit in which Holmes employs his expertise and supreme intellect to solve. Sherlock Holmes

This stage play was a huge hit when it first played in the USA in 1899 and in the UK in 1901. A lot of time has passed since then, and times have changed; and so details, expressions, jargon, and references which were easily understood over a hundred years ago are not so now, and so Garrick Bradman has given this century-old script a much needed re-evaluation and repolish.

The result is a new revamped play which is more accessible and easily understood by today’s readers; whilst, at the same time, remaining true and faithful to the original Victorian London spirit in which the story was originally written, is still set in, and in which so many people today still fondly like to transport themselves back to.

People enjoyed this play over a hundred years ago, and now, with this script revived and rejuvenated, it still may be enjoyed with the same fervour and gusto today.

The Original Sherlock Holmes (Volume 1)

All the Novels (Part 1)

Arthur Conan Doyle wrote four Sherlock Holmes novels. This volume contains the first two of them (which, consequently, also happen to be the VERY FIRST two Sherlock Holmes stories to be written).

The first story is “A Study in Scarlet.” A dead body is found in an empty house and the Scotland Yard police are stumped. They summon Sherlock Holmes to come and assist them, and immediately Holmes sees what they can’t.

The second story is “The Sign of Four.” This excellent follow-up novel develops the characters of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson even further, as it features tales of corruption, secret pacts, adventures, stolen treasure, and romance.

One of the many delights in these debut Sherlock Holmes stories is seeing just how exactly Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson came to meet each other in the first place, and then how this lead them onto 221B Baker Street and, ultimately, working together on many more adventures and for many more years to come.

The Original Sherlock Holmes (Volume 2)

All the Novels (Part 2)

Arthur Conan Doyle wrote four Sherlock Holmes novels. This volume contains the final two. (Volume One has the first two novels).

The first story is “The Hound of the Baskervilles,” a tale involving curses, suspicious deaths, and the legend of a supernatural entity terrorising the moors in Devon, England. This story is the most famous and popular of all the Sherlock Holmes stories, and has been adapted for the stage and cinema more than any other of his adventures.

The second story is “The Valley of Fear,” a double-crossing tale of secret pasts (with Moriarty connections). Sherlock Holmes is in an ancient Sussex manor house investigating the murder of a country gentleman. To solve the case, Holmes has to decipher a secret message and a mysterious design on the dead man’s forearm, not tattooed onto him, but branded. This is the fourth and final Sherlock Holmes novel, and one of the very last Sherlock Holmes stories to be written by Conan Doyle.

The Original Sherlock Holmes (Volume 3)

All the Stage Plays

Arthur Conan Doyle wrote three Sherlock Holmes stage plays and this volume contains them all complete and unabridged.

The first play is the eponymous named “Sherlock Holmes.” It was a great success when it was first performed in the USA in 1899, and a hit again when it was presented in the UK in 1901. This play was hugely instrumental in creating the image of Sherlock Holmes which is still being widely imitated today, and it is also notable for the appearance on stage of Professor Moriarty, Sherlock Holmes’s greatest adversary.

The second play is “The Speckled Band.” It is an adaptation of the all-time classic short story of the same name, and this play was also a huge success when it first appeared on the London stage in 1910.

The third play is “The Crown Diamond.” It was first performed in London in 1921, and this play is notable for the appearance of Professor Moriarty’s top assassin Colonel Moran; another of Sherlock Holmes’s deadliest opponents and considered to be the second most dangerous man in London – the most dangerous being, of course, Moriarty.

The three plays in this volume have been re-edited to make them easily readable for people not used to reading stage plays; whilst, at the same time, remaining familiar and true to those who are used to reading in this format.

The Best Short Stories (Part 1)

Arthur Conan Doyle wrote 56 Sherlock Holmes short stories: 24 between 1891 to 1893 and a further 32 between 1903 to 1927. This volume contains the best stories from the first period. (The best stories from the second period are in Volume Five).

It was with this first wave of short stories that the legend of Sherlock Holmes, which is still as strong as ever to this very day, all began.
